Neurogames are Nigh: A Question of User Privacy and Safety

The presentation will showcase the state of the art when it comes to biofeedback based games, as well as neuromodulating experiments that use games as a proof of concept.

Then, the presentation will extrapolate the state of the art to estimate the possibilities of integrating these technologies into the commercial game market.

Finally, a few questions will be discussed on the subject of neuroethics, user safety, and privacy regarding commercially available neurogames.

Diego Saldivar

Diego Saldivar is a digital artist and a game design scholar with a passion for virtual experiences and classical aesthetics. He has over a decade of practice producing indy content for online games with real economies, such as Entropia Universe and Second Life. He has also worked in Virtual Reality projects for cognitive rehabilitation and biopsychological research. He currently works as an Assistant Professor in Interactive Media at Noroff University College..

He studied a Bachelor’s in Animation and Digital Arts (Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico) and a Master’s in Game Development and Research (Technische Hochschule Köln, Germany). He enjoys intercultural dialogue and exchange, fluently speaking Spanish, French, Italian, and German, in addition to English and a handful of coding languages.
