Power Levelling - Professional development in unionisation
Get power levelled by your friends, and help out too! Being a part of union means sharing the resources of all the members. Unions will run courses, have arrangements with education providers, and community knowledge sharing programs. We know that a rising tide lifts all boats, and games ship when everyone on the team is fulfilled, challenged, and learning new things. It's in all our interest to have highly skilled people in our industry, and improve the experience of working in games.
Tim Colwill is co-convener of Game Workers Australia. Tim has a background in games development and journalism. GWA's mission is to build a better games industry by supporting and empowering workers to know their rights, bargain collectively, and put an end to abuse and exploitation of all kinds. Game Workers Unite started in 2018 as an international grass roots unionisation movement. In May 2022 Game Workers Australia partnered with Professionals Australia to become Australia's first national trade union for games workers. Tim lives in Perth with his wife and three animals.
