Rob is a freelance programmer who has been in (and around) games for more than a decade, helping to make projects feel that bit more special. Projects he’s worked on include Armello (where he helped with UI), Innchanted (working on UI, Tutorials and other systems), and far too many cool installations he can’t really talk about.
He’s currently working on an as-yet-unannounced racing game, and his favourite game without a doubt is Paradroid.
This talk explores how I solved a design/engineering challenge with my current (not fully announced) project, specifically how I came to a solution for the behaviour of the computer-controller cars by taking a step back and taking technical inspiration from games of the past.
The main outcome is to inspire you to explore those games you might have experienced (and go even further back) as another source of inspiration when solving design or technical with your projects.
