Game engines are designed to create believable worlds, but their potential extends far beyond entertainment. This talk explores how tools commonly used for game development can be used to visualise future climate scenarios through immersive virtual environments. Drawing on research conducted in remote locations, I discuss how real-time rendering, environmental storytelling, and VR can help communities experience the impacts of sea-level rise and coastal flooding before they occur. The project demonstrates how game technologies can support communication, education, and decision-making around some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.
