The Greater Brisbane chapter of the IGDA (brIGDA) was founded in 2004 by truna and Matthew Ford. You can read our story over on IGDA Perspectives (via web archive May 2011). Since we started much has happened in the Australian and international game development scene, particularly the rise of the indies, and we now boast a beautiful vibrant community of lovely passionate people who like to make games, play games, talk about games and who are the most supportive and generous group of folks we have had the privilege to know.
Queensland is emerging as Australia’s most innovative hub for the digital games industry, boasting a thriving talent pool and the nation’s most competitive incentives.
Studios establishing themselves in Queensland can take advantage of the 15% Screen Queensland Digital Games Incentive, paired with the 30% Federal Tax Offset — it's easy to build your business in the sunshine state.
Along with Australia’s industry-leading games incentive, Screen Queensland prioritises talent development through paid placement programs and seed funding for start-up companies.
The Queensland Government through Screen Queensland is proud to support the digital games industry in the state.
