Your game is nothing without community

Your game is nothing without community

Grace Ferrentino

My name is Grace, and I have a brain worm that keeps turning my hobbies into businesses. It started with painting miniatures for Warhammer and D&D, to content creation, to landing a job at my local game store, and now working with my family on videogames! I have a degree in design with a touch of advertising, which doesn’t show through in my job descriptions, but the knowledge has made me immensely self-sufficient and versatile. I used to be a hardcore competitive gamer (don’t play league kids), but as life gets more stressful and I keep picking up more and more projects, I have embraced the comfort of cats, cosy games, and hot chocolates.

TG Lightning Talks @ Queensland Games Festival 2026

Sometimes we get so focused on making a game, that we forget about the players. I argue that the work you do to build community around your game is more important than the program itself. Especially in an increasingly polarising and fragmented society, people crave community and connection more than ever. I have experienced this first hand, through my work at a game store, as a content creator, and now in game development. So, let this business school dropout tell you how to market your game!
